The “Snap Crackle Pop” sensor

We call it the “Snap Crackle Pop” sensor, but it is really a cleverly engineered listening system that collects and analyzes the complex audio signals created as the Digital Soil Core (DSC) is inserted into the soil.

The many incredible rich information dimensions obtained with the audio sensor are fused with data collected from the other 6 sensors on the DSC. The resulting analytics confirm that the Snap Crackle Pop sensor helps to further ‘disaggregate’ the properties and attributes in the soil environment important to plant performance and behavior.

We are excited to see that the value of sound is becoming more understood and appreciated. LandScan knows it has tremendous applications for site characterization and analysis.
